Elected in September, handed a mess, gone in June. The vote about the spend happened in a chat where everyone saw who voted which way. The minutes are in someone’s inbox. And the “can everyone email the district” ask vanished after eleven unrelated messages.
Anonymous votes
When the motion concerns a person or a spend, seeing who voted changes the vote. TinyHubs ballots can be anonymous per vote — the decision and the count stay on record, the individual ballots don’t. Nothing else in a group chat, Slack, or Discord offers this.
Minutes and bylaws with versions
Documents live in folders with version history — this year’s bylaws and last year’s, one file, two versions. “Which draft is current?” has one answer.
Asks that get tracked
“Contact the district about crossing guards” becomes an action request — each parent marks it done with a note, and you see who did, who didn’t, and what actually happened.
The September handover
The hub belongs to the PTA, not to whoever set it up. Rights transfer to the new chair; the record stays. Hand next year’s board an institution, not a shoebox of logins.
The parents already argue in WhatsApp. That’s fine.
Keep the chat for the conversation. The hub is for the three things a committee cannot do in a chat: vote privately, keep a record, and know who hasn’t answered.
